Red Line Engine Oil Break-In Additive 81403 – 16 oz

Red Line Engine Oil Break-In Additive 81403 is specifically formulated to provide the anti-wear protection needed during the critical break-in period of a newly rebuilt or assembled engine. It adds high levels of zinc and phosphorus (ZDDP) to conventional motor oil, helping protect camshafts, lifters, tappets and other heavily loaded engine components from excessive wear.

The formulation is designed to work with a less-slick conventional motor oil so piston rings can seat properly while the added anti-wear chemistry protects the engine's valvetrain and other components. Red Line also states that the additive can be used with conventional or synthetic oils during normal operation when additional anti-wear protection is desired.

Recommended Application

One 16 oz bottle treats up to 12 quarts of motor oil. Depending on the engine's oil capacity, one bottle may be sufficient for two smaller oil changes.

For engine break-in, Red Line recommends using the additive with conventional 10W-30 motor oil. The conventional oil provides less slipperiness to help piston rings seat while the ZDDP package provides additional protection for the camshaft, lifters and valvetrain. Always follow the engine builder's break-in recommendations.

High-ZDDP Formula

The 16 oz bottle contains approximately:

• 16.6 grams sulfur

The additive can substantially increase the zinc and phosphorus concentration of the finished motor oil, depending on the amount of oil being treated.
